HOW DOES IT WORK?

Stem Cells Transfection solutions from OZ Biosciences

Stem cells are widely investigated due to their regenerative potential. In many cases, it would prove useful to enhance or reduce some of their features through gene delivery strategies to harness their full potential cell/gene-based therapy.

 

Our products line for stem cells is essentially composed by lipid-based reagents used for lipofection. These reagents are generally composed of synthetic cationic lipids that are often mixed with helper lipids such as DOPE (1,2-dioleoyl-phosphatidyl-ethanolamine) or cholesterol. These lipids mixture assembles in liposomes or micelles with an overall positive charge at physiological pH and are able to form complexes (lipoplexes) with negatively charged nucleic acids through electrostatics interactions. The association of the lipid-based transfection reagent with nucleic acids results in a tight compaction and protection of the nucleic acids and these cationic complexes are mainly internalized by endocytosis.

HOW DO I USE STEM CELL TRANSFECTION REAGENTS?

Our reagents allow high transfection efficiency with a minimized toxicity. They do not affect stem cells’ phenotype and differentiation potential and are serum compatible.

The protocol is a very straightforward and easy procedure:

1. Prepare the molecule vector (DNA, virus particles, protein..) and the Reagent solution.

2. Mix them together and incubate 20 min.

3. Add to your cells.
