We are delighted to share insights from a recent study entitled "Inhibition of pathogenic tau signaling via blocking of the phosphatase-activating domain by novel small molecules" published in Frontiers in Pharmacology by Raghad Nowar et al.
They identified a series of novel small-molecule inhibitors that target a specific toxic region of the tau protein known as the phosphatase-activating domain (PAD). By blocking this domain, these compounds successfully prevented the pathological signaling that leads to neurodegeneration, effectively rescuing neurons and restoring axonal growth in cellular models of tauopathy.
